Police mentioned they were alerted by a individual who discovered a car in Hanau covered with red-colored fluid

Roughly 50 automobiles have been marked with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.

Cars, walls and mailboxes were vandalized, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they announced in a statement.

Officers report they were contacted during the night on Wednesday, when a man observed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored liquid.

The substance had been applied in the shape of a swastika, they reported.

Law enforcement then discovered numerous other smeared vehicles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.

These symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation banning the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.

Police report early analysis suggest the liquid was probably human bodily fluid.

"At present there remains no clue as to where it came from; investigators are not yet cognizant of any harm in connection with the occurrence," they commented.

Local authorities said they were attempting "to resolve the case" and have requested to the residents for tips.

A senior political figure said the vandalism left him stunned and had to be solved promptly.

"This event strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the extremist attack half a decade ago," he posted on a platform, referring to the death of nine individuals by a shooter targeting residents of migrant background in February 2020.
